The Throwleigh Archive was conceived in 1999 and since then hundreds of photographs relating to the Parish of Throwleigh, old and new, have been electronically recorded for it. In addition, other material and artefacts have been added, and voice recordings of local people's memories contribute to the collection. None of the many people involved has been paid for their time but a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund was administered by the Local Heritage Initiative and has enabled two public exhibitions to be assembled at the village hall. One was in 2002 and the second in April 2006. A book has also been written, not a history of Throwleigh, but a collection of the best pictures from the Archive, with text which explains, amplifies or comments on the pictures, mostly in the form of quotations from oral or written sources. A limited print run of the book is available for sale at a cost of £15 + P&P. The contents and preface to the book can be viewed here. Click on the following links to view the index as a PDF or HTML.
